"The Mousetrap" is the classic murder mystery including the mandatory twist in the tail. It has been running continuously in London's West End for 58 years which gives an indication of its ability to entertain audiences.

Brief plot synopsis:
Molly and Giles Ralston are a newly married couple who have just opened a boarding house, Monkswell Manor, somewhere in England. It is a snowy winter evening and their first guests are due to arrive as the curtain opens. In succession we meet "the expected guests":
Christopher Wren, a young man who claims to be a budding architect and who has a very strange appearance and stanger mannerisms,
Mrs Boyle, an older lady with a formidable appearance and a very bad temper,
Major Metcalfe, a mild-mannered retired army officer,
Miss Casewell, a young woman whom the playwright describes as being a somewhat "manly" type.

Into the mix is thrown Mr Paravicini, a foreign gentleman who, unlike the others, was an unxpected guest; his car has apparently broken down and he is in need of shelter.

We are told that a woman has been murdered somewhere in London, but this seems to have nothing to do with anyone at Monkswell Manor until Detective Sergeant Trotter appears on the scene to tell them that one of them may in fact be the next intended victim.

Please arrive at the audition with a brief theatre resume if you have one (not compulsory, we have also had great success over the last couple of years with inexperienced actors). The audition will be a "cold-read" of portions of the script with the possibility of some additional pieces which I may select.
